Cyanescens? Could it be? PNW
    #11313024 - 10/24/09 05:48 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Hey guys, I was doing some mushroom hunting in my yard today and among many other things (picked separately), I found what I believe are cyanescens! I have no experience in identifying mushrooms and this is my first time posting, but I'll do my best. I've currently got a spore print in progress. It should be done in a few hours.

These were found in large patch in an overgrown part of my garden, under a small tree. Most of them were concealed under some tall grass.

I believe the dark spots to be bruising, but I'm not too sure. They are a silvery dark blue and have been appearing slowly since they were picked.

The stalks are definitely white, compared to some similar looking mushrooms I found in another part of my yard, with orange stalks. (conocybe filaris?) I have no experience here, so I'd be grateful if you'd help me.

Here's some more info: most caps are just over an inch in diameter.
stalk length about 1 and 1/2 inch average. Stalks are fibrous.

I'll post the spore print when its ready. Thanks!

take them all, but do the mushrooms a favor and give there caps a little flick before you pick them so the spores are in the soil.

I'll go do that now, and I'll make sure to help spread some spores.
Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it! I'll be right back...

Remember to leave the mycelium intact. I always leave the young pins also, and certainly never take all the mushrooms if it's a public patch.

Don't worry, I didn't take any immature ones, and when I picked them I made sure to cut them off gently instead of pulling them up.
Hopefully this patch will show up year after year!
