Hi! Does anybody know what trip difference between the two strain? What is the relative psilocibin content? Which one is stronger and what kind of emotional/mental difference you've found?
Thanx

P. Cubensis is the species, not a strain itself. GT is a strain of P. Cubensis. You would need to compare GT to another strain of Cubensis. ( I.e. Ecuador, Cambodian, F+, Amazon, Creeper, etc.) -Bruiser

OK! Sorry for the mistake... The one to be compared is the strain called "Fat stem" which I don't know the scientific name... Do you have any clue?
Thanx

There's many variables to account for. This is a topic of debate. Some will say there's really no difference, and some will say there is. Each trip is totally different. I'm one for the "not much notable differences" crowd. (Trip wise anyyway) I've never really had a bad or shitty trip. I'm not familaiar with the "fat stem" name. That could desrcibe any of the many different strains. My adivice is to try different strains and see for yourself which ones you like better. Unfortunately, there really is no diffinative answer. I wish you luck. -Bruiser

It seems that the "fat stem" is the stropharia cubensis strain... does it tell you something? I can't find it in the dosage calculator... What do you suggest?
Thanx again!

I used to grow GT's now i grow Ecuadors. I like the Ecuadors much better. Although i have to admit that my growing techniques have improved greatly.
Straphoria cubensis was the original definition when they were discovered, i believe. Psilocybe cubensis are the same thing....

Thanx for your help, but in my serching I already found those pages... only I couldn't find anything concerning the GT content of psilocibin... so I have to suppose that GT is only a strain of P. Cubensis? That means that the content in chemicals are more or less the one that also the shroomery calculator refer to?
What is the difference with the Ecuador strain? Why do you think it's better? Thanx and have a nice shrooming!

EQ's colonise a lot faster. The shrooms are bigger. Although there doesn't seem to be as many.
When i changed from GT's to EQ's i also changed my consumption tek. With the GT's i used to orange juice them, but when i moved onto EQ's i started cocoa-shrooming them. The cocoa is a much better method of consumption, but i also feel that the EQ's are a much nicer trip than the GT's. Maybe it's just me, I don't know.
As far as i'm aware GT's are P cubensis also. Although i have no idea where the strain came from. I personally wouldn't go back to them though.
If you would like a spore print of my EQ's to try out, then PM me with an address and i'll post you one.
I think a lot of these things are in the mind of the beholder, but tripping is all about what is in the mind, so finding what you believe to be the nicest is what is important, not what some science claims to be.

Yes. GT (Golden Teacher) is a strain of the psilocybe cubensis species. And the potency between strains of cubensis is all about the same, with only small variations in their chemical contents. And since the dosage calculator is for p.cubensis, it'll give you a fairly good idea of how to dose for ALL p.cubensis strains.

There's no such thing as one strain being any better than an another. It all boils down to your personal preferences.
