That Stanford experiment was a real important one!
I think it points to some of the fundamental social problems in expanding the Carceral State (the way we are in the U.S.) by broadening the definition of crime (through such vectors as the War on Drugs, increased legislation, improved technology, and increased bureaucratic efficiency), incarcerating higher per-capita rates of our citizenry, and thus creating more opportunities for an arbitrary social bifurcation, which will inexorably lead to a further deterioration of our "moral center" (much like the Stanford experiment)...
