Have woodlover lc....what now?
    #11310694 - 10/24/09 10:59 AM (8 years, 29 days ago)

I have a woodlover lc from a while ago that I'm hoping is still viable.  I made it in a freshly opened water bottle with some leftover chunks of mycelium from a failed project earlier this year.  I didn't think it would work, but apparently either there were nutrients in the water that the mycelium ate, or the mycelium grew anyway in the absence of nutrients.  Either way though, now that I have some lc, I'm not sure what I should do with it.  Should I inoculate some cardboard, or just directly go to woodchips with it, or maybe inoculate a brf cake and expand from there?  Any suggestions on the most effective path of action?

Yea, I'm pretty surprised too.  But like I said, I made it in a freshly opened bottle of water, that was opened for like seconds to pop the bits of myc in.  But still, the mycelium was nowhere near sterile, since it came from an outdoor patch and was sitting in a pile of woodchips for a while, but still, the stuff looks like mycelium, so I'm thinking that the only reason there was any growth of any sort was because the mycelium was revived.  I don't know though.  Still torn on where to go.

Was part of the myc attached to a bit of sub?

Well, like I said, it was parts of a brf cake, so brf and verm were interlaced with it, and also, the myc did eventually jump to woodchips, but that's not what I used to make the lc, only the brf chunks.  Now that I'm thinking about it, I probably still have some bits of colonized, if not dried out, woodchips, I should see what I can do with those as well.
