Who here can alter their reward pathways?

I'm NOT talking about 'drugs', just natural self-enduced euphoria. And how is it done? Meditation? I've been able to get spurts of endorphins after years of practice but it's never longer than a second or two of euphoria. I hear some monks can do it for hours, I'm not really sure how.

It can mainly be achieved through meditation. Certain stimuli can help the process along, such as music, smell, and touch. It kind of involves "feeling" certain pathways in the brain, and feeling the purposes of different segments of the brain. Almost like flexing individual sections of a muscle. It certainly takes practice, and I'm no expert, but I do know firsthand that it is possible. It all depends on how much you put into it.

...or maybe i'm just crazy and talking out my ass. No way to tell for sure. Ha.

Why do you assume that meditation induced euphoria is an alteration of reward pathways? Seems like an extraordinarily bold assumption.

Because meditation releases the body's level of relaxation, thus dopamine increases. Right?

Not that it has to do with anything I said... but no.

Simply smiling for 10 minutes is said to increase ones 'vibration' exponentially- the act of stimulating the muscles we use to smile, apparently stimulates a positive response in the brain- but I tend to think it's more of a nuearl habbit, instead of actually being a direct cause..

For example if someone never really smiled with pleasure in their life, they couldn't fake smile for 10 minutes and have the positive release of chemicals in the brain.. But because most people stimulate those muscles by smiling, when something is pleasing/pleasurable- the brain is just used to releasing those chemicals when the muscles are stimulated- even if 'faked'..

Now, what kind of euphoria are we talking about? I can feel totally Loved/In love simply by focusing on certain thoughts/memories..  and If I really focus, It can bring me to tears/my knees -Mind you I dunno if I would have had this ability if I didn't have such dramaticaly powerful feelings/thoughts while being high, that I can now relate to.. (Like looking at a tree, and really realizing/remembering the connection it and I share, and feeling the love I have felt/now know is there..)

as for physical euphoria, likewise, it usually takes certain concentrations in my body/mind, and I have in no way perfected it, let alone been able to replicate it on a regular basis.. and the euphoria is as well- fleeting..

When i watch people doing something they are really good at (like a skill, or an art), or when they are effectivly and intensly learning something new, or just wierd situations where someone is really facinated/mezmerized by something- it can cause an intense positive sensation (probably the best feeling I've really ever felt- overall- not overly intense/profound, but soft, reasuring, and just warm and pleasurable) in my head.. Like the feeling of when mom used to run her fingers through my hair.. Or even when a gf does it.. but as if they are doing it to my brain.. Is such an awesome feeling, I wish i could harness it. X.X

It's like some kind of deep eternal beauty, and when I witness it, it effects me with this amazing sensation.. I really don't know though..

If it was easy most of us wouldn't be using drugs to begin with. ;P
I don't doubt its possible though. It probably takes some major concentration and practice.
