If it's ok just to resume and finish pressure cooking for the remaining time, or should i just start again with a full 60 minutes...?

It was such a mild amount of time in the pressure cooker, I don't really see a point in doing that, I had them in there for about 20 minutes tops.

Really depends on what you are sterilizing and how long it cooked. PF jars could be done again and would probably be ok with about 30 minutes. Grains will still need a full hour to be safe.

Yeah it was grains, I put them on for another hour, just because I don't feel like styaing up all night fooling with it, I'm just asking to see if it was alright or I was wasting my time, which i didn't figure I was, but I am asking anyway.

were you at 15 psi for 20 min?
personally, I would re-sterilize them for 60 min.

Think the whole point is to keep it at that temp for so long to make sure everything is killed, where as you would be half sterilizing twice and in this instance that would not make a whole. My 2 cents.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.. .I have a pressure cooker without a guage so I assume 15 psi, do you know what 15 psi is on a little presto pressure cooker? How hard will the rocker rock?

sorry I cant help with that specific PC. but you only start the time once you reach pressure, then stay at that PSI for the duration to sterilize properly.
That may be what you already had in mind... But I wanted to mention it just in case..

At least a full cycle, not necessarily fresh grain.

Well i have a rocker one that i have not used yet but have been doing some reading and it says that when it rocks vigorously you want to turn heat down so it gently rocking and steam is escaping and then counting from there. Also there is a site that says that a test to check its working correctly and hot enough is to flick a few drops of water on top of lid and the water should quickly boil and evaporate any longer and it is not at the correct temp.

Ok I've been using it right then, water definitely boils on the top, I remember trying that a long time ago now... Yeah, I just went a head and let it go for the full 60...
