Persistent mild case of trich mold
    #11307040 - 10/23/09 05:41 PM (8 years, 2 days ago)

I have recently moved into a new building, and placed my shotgun terrarium about 3inches off the floor in my closet. it gets indirect light 16hrs/day, with about 3hrs of this being direct light.

since moving in, ive been having cases of trich (green) mold on the cakes, which ive been removing under cold water as soon as noticed (examined closely daily).

however, ive now got 4 cakes (my inoculation went non-sterile and messed up my batch), and small patches of green pop up on one or the other almost every other day, and the stress seems to be stopping the formation of pins.

I dont want to give up on them, since its going to be a month till my next batch is colonized. Is there any advice?

Im thinking i may start misting the terrarium with a bit of H2O2 and rinsing the perilite. will these steps help?

definitely mist with H2O2 first; but most likely it's done. sorry man, by the time you can see trich, its usually too late to save

In mushroom cultivation, there's no such thing as a 'mild' case of trich. Once you see green, you toss it out immediately unless you want to ruin your living space for grows in the future.

The only exception is the application of a salt-paste on the mold patches during mid-flush.

If your cakes are turning green before your first flush, you need to re-examine your sterile tek. Also, your FC needs to be at least 12" off the floor.

sounds like you need to clean the room as well, go wild with bleach (10% solution) walls, ceilings everywhere.  Give it a day or so and start all over, rather loose a month of growth than doom yourself to failure because of impatience.
