First grow - wbs jar, some advice please?
    #11304642 - 10/23/09 07:13 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Hey guys.

I made a post a few weeks back asking for some assistance with a WBS jar.. I still haven't actually done anything with it though.

So basically.. we have a WBS jar ready to go, verm, coco coir and no pressure cooker.

Where do we go from here! There doesn't seem to be any specific basic tek to follow for WBS.

Any advice will help.. from spawning to colonisation. I really wanna get this happening!

I'm guessing using horse poo is the way to go..?

Help if you will  Cheers in advance. :mushroom2:

Prepare coir the usual way, spawn WBS to coir. What am I missing?

Ok.. I've never done it before so that isn't too much help. I kinda get what you're saying though. :frown:

That's what I'd like to know too ><

I need help in choosing which teks to use for the entire process.

Ok, good- that's what I wanted you to realize. You've bitten off more than you know how to chew.

What, if anything, are you planning to add to the coir? Or will you be using it plain?

Not trying to interupt, but I bet that if you explain exactly what you've got to work with and a basic idea as to how you want to do it that you'd be able to help the folks here in pointing you in the right direction.

not to be a dick or anything but if you click 'search the site' in the top right hand corner and then type in WBS tek you will find WBS TEK.. you can also do that with ANY other information that you need to find  ex. type in 'coco coir' also you could try but its pretty much impossible to do anything other than brf cakes without a PC

There are several in the "Grow Mushrooms" section of the site. Doc's WBS Tek is popular. And the consensus seems to be that it will be difficult if not impossible to sterilize WBS without a pressure cooker.

Also, what stage are you at in the process? Sounds like you haven't inoculated the jar yet. Just one jar? Syringe? Spore print?

Without PC its just not going to happen.  I was just looking for a PC at a thrift store I saw one which wasnt big enough for me but it was $8 you could only hold one pint jar in it but its better than nothing.  Especially wbs you arent going to get that shit to work without one.  WBS is fucking nasty all sorts of nasties waiting to come out and play with your myc

I skipped right over it. I took "WBS jar ready to go" at face value.
I figured the missing PC was a complicated story I didn't want to ask about. (Mom found it.)

I was also wondering what "ready to go" meant, if they don't have a tek or a PC.

No no no. The jar is ready to go as in I was given it by a friend who did the inoculation and sterilisation for me.

And yes I know I can use the search engine and whatnot, but I'd like some more personal advice.

I want a tek I can spawn these mushrooms with that is simple to understand for a beginner and produces decent results.

All we have at the moment as I said, is a WBS jar (mycelium is running strongly throughout it), coco coir and vermiculite.

Would this tek work? Or must I make a substrate first before casing? Sorry I'm such a noob at this! This one seems really simple...
