You were not to blend the hell out of the cake, just to gring it up after you break it into smaller pieces by hand. I realy wanted to know what would be the best way to use the completly consumed substrate? Casing, leaving it be, or transfering it to another casing method and finish it off in a terrarium?

i would say the latter would be best: dump out the colonized substrate and crumble it like in another casing tek. use aluminum baking pans or something and cover with a casing mixture. -daniel.

I inoculated 12 jars with slants that were put into sterile water and blended into a nice liquid format, a good 20-30 seconds of blending. The jars showed growth through out the entire jars on every grain of substrate within 36 hours. The jars are now 96 hours old and look unbelieveable! I'm betting that these jars will be totally white mycelium within 2 weeks in a full pint jar. As an aside, I utilized the peroxide to help combat some minor bacteria/yeast contamination that had showed up in every damn slant! The mycelium overgrew all of the contamination and totally covered the entire slant. I decided to use them since they looked so good, I had intended to pitch them & start over, but I was slow in pitching them & the mycelium took off & looked sweet. I utilized a mini baster that Wally World sells for a whopping 97 cents to inoculate with, prior attempts resulted in many clogged syringes & much frustration. The baster worked 100% to expectations and was also a hit. This success comes after repeated failures with many grain jars that have always been too wet. It has taken me a while to realize this as my problem. jars would start out fine show some good growth & then stall. When opened they would be sour. I adjusted moisture contents & think that I am on the road to actually end up with something to put into a terrarium. I intend to case out trays, so I still have those hurdles to clear. My point? Blending will now be my method of choice!
