Field Poo?
    #11302603 - 10/22/09 08:47 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

If I could gather up my own Cow Crap out of a pasture around my house would that be alright to use? Also Does anybody know like a really good tek or tek video on producing lots, and lots of mushies at once?
P.S. Don't worry on this one, I'm capable if you'll just give me one more chance judge, please.:crazy2:That doesn't even mean anything, don't pay attention to it.

I do have even one more question. I inoculated my jars about an hour after removing them from the pressure cooker, just now read that this is not such a good idea. Any body think there is a chance they will survive. Please tell me there is hope for my baby fungi .

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

You're better off using field aged horse manure. The texture is far better for home cultivation. You want the well-aged, non-stinky nuggets left out in the field - don't take anything green or swept out from the stables.

Add gypsum (@5% by volume), vermiculite (@10%), coffee grounds (@5-10%), etc. and bring to field capacity before pasteurizing.

Cow patties are preferable for wild cubensis growth because they're a lot thicker and less likely to dry out before the next rains come. Cow manure will work with home cultivation, but sometimes it's a lot harder for the mycelium to colonize.

You should never remove jars from the PC immediately after finishing a cycle. When you equalize the pressure too fast, dirty air gets sucked into your jars, bypassing the filter. Always let your PC cool down completely (leave it over night or wait at least 6+ hours) before removing jars.
