What's not to like about the new album? Although I will admit that Colors is probably still my favorite album of theirs.

Chill fool. Album sucks. You can like it all you want; i'll stick to my Alaska Album for BTBAM. Some groups can cross genres and try new stuff... BTBAM i think failed epically at trying a new style. Alaska, Mordecai, ect... epic. This new album... fail. Having seen them live... i'd HATE to go to a show now if they played that. TSO will be more epic i'd bet...

I thought this was by far the BEST btbam album.
They flow so fucking solid.
I would definitely consider them epic prog rock now.
My ears were so astounded with that. Way to rock it the fuck out

I remember when Between the Buried and Me, Premontions of War, Isis, Ed Gein, Spark Lights the Friction, the Funeral, If Hope Dies, and a few others played Bridge Street Music Hall in Syracuse. Epicly awesome show. Also back when I could tolerate BTBAM. I don't much care about the direction they've taken, nor would I even give a shit about what they used to play if it weren't for nostalgia.
I can't believe the hype they get sometimes though. Premonitions of War was better then. Plus they had sweeter shirts. I wonder what happened.

This new album flows really smoothly throughout. Not a ton of genre trascending choppy parts that don't really click together. The music really progresses into the next parts, and everything seems to fit right where it should.
There is still that typical Btbam sound throughout, but it's like they found a way to fit their grindy hardcore sound, into the world of prog rock, and do it with out ruining either of the two.
Bravo I say

yup, this album is up there next to Colors.
i think BTBAM themselves classify their music as "adult contemporary progressive death metal"

I hated colors.
It sounded like they were trying soooooo hard to be prog, and just couldn't get the changes in genre to fit.
This cd seems to actually flow and progress, it doesn't seem so choppy to me and forced.
