Need some lighting help for my shotgun FC

well after a quick search I have come up a little conflicted in how I should light my shotgun FC. I was always under the impression light wasn't that important but I see now I was wrong. My FC is in my room out in the open and would get pretty good lighting from my room lights but I don't think that's appropriate and am pretty sure I need a 6500CFL no? well if in fact I need to put a CFL over my FC then how should I go about lighting it with the lid on? light would only peep through the holes in the FC but is that goo enough?
Thanks guys! Not having the best day so trying to avoid the drama of my life by delving into my projects and figuring shit out.

You can use any light. Any light whatsoever. I used white christmas lights for all of my grows for a good 2 years before I upgraded to 1 desk incandescent lamp to light everything. You can use any light source even if its completely indirect.
Lights are just about the least intensive thing you need in mushroom growing.

I would go with fluorescent lighting. It's safe, keeps cool, and it's cheap.
"Experience has taught us that the light best suited for primordia formation and the development of fruitbodies is bright light with a color temperature of 5,000 Kelvin to 7,000 Kelvin."

put your FC near a window mother nature has the best lighting schedule... if you cant put it near a window, put it in a room with a window and open the curtains lol
if that isnt an option then buy a cfl, but it seems like any ol light will do (i think people say they see a difference when they go to the 6500k)
as for you FC, light will only get in the holes? did you buy a black FC and turn it into a shotgun? i have only ever heard of people using clear bins so that the light recieved by the shrooms is maximized... plus you also get to see how your little friends are doing

if your using a clear top FC the light will shine through best. if your top is opaque you can cut an opening and replace it with plexi-glass or some other plastic.

I didn't realize you don't have a clear lid.
You need to have a clear lid on that to allow the light through. IMO light is very important for proper growth.

fuck...I guess I will need to get some plexi-glass and fix my lid up or just buy a clear lid that will fit on my FC.

Thats what I had to do with my FC lid. Just cut the mid section out and get a piece of plexi thats a few inches bigger and glue/tape.
Get a fluorescent light and sit it on top. just make sure the tubes don't directly touch the plastic - safety.
