 popcorn grain///casing questions

So, I have a bunch of popcorn jars that are colonized...just never really found a solid tek for casing it.
I was thinking about mixing coir with some spent coffee grounds (just got about 10 pounds from starbux :P) but I'm unaware of the mixing ratio? Also where do youi find coir? Is that what is used for iguana and lizard tanks? So a pet store?
Plus I could never grasp the concept of casing...would I mix it all up, let it colonize, then put vermic on top? Is that what the casing layer is? I prob sound like a HUGE noob, but after hours of research and still being confused I figured the best way to get it done right would be to ask. Haha

yo do not want to case the grain without a reservoir of water (aka 50/50 grain/moist verm) mixed in the grain..
then case that mixture..
but if you have coir, spawn the grain to a coir/coffee bulk and let that colonize..
i think you have the right idea, but the wrong terminology

sounds like you got it right to me
as for the coir, yes you can get it at a pet shop
i like to use a 1:2 or 1:3 spawn to coir ratio
the idea behind that is,the more spawn you use
the faster your sub will colonize
thuss giving less time for a contam to set in
and for casing it is totally up to you
if you do or not
some people swear by it some hate it
like i said the choice is yours on that one

Yes that is exactly what a casing layer is my new friend.
After you mix your "spawn" with your "Substrate" you let that colonize to about %95-%100 when you have your sub there then you apply your casing and wait for that to break the surface.
As to fruiting it that's your call I wait till it breaks evenly and fruit some say to patch and fruit your call.
However if your going to case i would look up 50/50 or a 50/50+

so verm/peat moss in a 1:1 ratio is what i put as the "top" layer...over the colonized popcorn/substrate?
im just wondering what the ratio is to mix in with my pop corn...like you guys said, 2:1 or 3:1, but how much spent coffee grounds would i mix in with that ratio?
