 Gluing my 400 dollar bong back together.....

......every 5 days is getting old.
Damn female piece broke off the front of the tube, and now I have to reattach it every 5 days or so because it breaks off again........my ashcatcher has a 5 stem diffuser on it, so it weighs around a lb or so and puts a lot of pressure on the break.
Sigh.....
I wish I knew a skilled glass blower.

what kind of glue are you using? and does the part that has glue on it get heated up at all? that would cause it to fall apart.

Hell no it won't.......I got that....
Do you think your typical glass repair company will fix a bong with a glass on glass part? I never really thought about that.......
Just seems the glass on glass female piece would only hold purpose in a pipe makers world.......seems the typical glass blowing shop wouldn't be dealing with such things.

it's simply refusing the glass, most glass blowers can do it, there's
companies that specialize in it, the pipe you have is essentially lab
glass both in it's construction and it's composition

Ic Ic. I guess I will call around to some local companies and see what's up, def worth getting it fixed, I can't imagine it costing more then 100 bucks.

i suggest adding a piece of wood from the bottom of the ash catcher to the base of the piece so it will take most of the load.

For gluing anything, I like to use J-B Weld (at work we've used it regularly to fix holes in gas tanks, and even air compressors at a high psi). It comes in two separate tubes, and you mix a tiny amount then use it like glue (do it pretty quick).
Now, this stuff is toxic, but once it fully cures it will not burn. If you do decide to use J-B Weld whatever you do, don't get any extra on anything, because it will not come off at all. Also, I've only used it on metals, but it says it works with glass as well.

Why not glue it and then have something wrapped around the bong and ash catcher, bracing it, so it don't just try to rip off constantly.

Ah, bad break. That is a kickass bong though!
If you cannot find anyone who will fix it, then you may have to stop using the ashcatcher

This is how i would do it. The bottom support on the ash catcher might not be necessary. The wood block will need to be hand carved to the contour of the glass, and the amber bladder tube over the break needs to have a U cut out to account for support.
avoid pieces with compression rings in the future. They look cool but are very weak.
