Identification
    #11299548 - 10/22/09 03:22 PM (8 years, 7 hours ago)

Habitat:
I found a group of (about 15) mushrooms (both young and mature) sitting next to a silver birch tree.

Gills:
Their gills are a light brown to white colour, not attached.

Stem:
The stem has a length of 4-5cm, and a diameter of about 1cm. White.

Cap:
The caps are distinctly wavy, 4-5cm in diameter, a light brown (maybe chestnut brown - although i find it hard to distinguish) to a lighter brown around the edges. They are a slimey texture (when wet - it had been raining)

Spore print color:
I have not yet done a spore print. I will do this tonight. My apologies.

Hello everyone, I am new to Shroomery.
I found these mushrooms today, at first I thought they could be Psilocybe Cyanescens (Wavy Caps) as they seemed to fit their description (I know they primarily grow in wood chips, mulched plants,.. but can they grow on birch tree roots?). Also however when I tested for bruising (I did this about 5 mins after picking them, does this matter?) they did not bruise brue, they didn't appear to bruise any color.
I wondered if anyone could tell me what these are?

A photo will improve your chances of getting an accurate ID.

there are a few different LBMs that could match this description from galerinas to tubarias. a picture would be instrumental for correct identification.

Could be a Tubarias or even Galerena pictures would be a big help, if it didn't bruise It's most likely not a Cyanscens and fu beege lol.

Probably Gymnopus dryophilus or Tubaria.  Check the spore print color and get a camera.  I have seen decent cameras with macro mode go for as little as $20 on ebay.

I'm sorry that this is off topic, but for the bruising, you simply squeeze the stem or cap, right?

Just picking/handling them should be enough for them to bruise.  Look around the base of the stipe, this is the most common place to see bruising.
