Maybe they are Psathyrella.    Especially if the caps and stems are fragile and break easily.

Maybe AgrocybeGalerinaPholiota?  Hell, I'm not sure.

Don't eat those.

Psathyrella is an entire genus of mushrooms.  The one image on wikipedia is of a small Psathyrella species.  However, they come in many sizes.

Psathyrella delineata

Psathyrella sp. maybe P. gracilis

I've been meaning to write up a response here.  If you found them growing around the roots of oak trees, either living or dead, they could be Armillaria tabescens, aka the 'ringless honey mushroom.'  They come up in big clusters like that, and are immediately beset by insects.  Within a day or two they will dissolve in a puddle of maggoty goo, but if you get them when they're still young they're supposed to be good to eat.  You just need to cook them thoroughly or they can cause gastric... distress.

I have some pics I took of some ringless honey mushrooms I picked over the weekend.  I'll post them later this evening.
