Or do you not even use a lid, only the tyvek, poly and a ring? Then leave the holes from injecting open?
I use a piece of health tape over the holes in the lid then inject right through the tape and leave it as is, is this bad? I have not been contaminated yet out of 11 jars but am I pushing my luck?
Thanks in advance
i do use a lid with a 3/8 inch hole... krazy glue the filter to the lid.... ofcourse the lid and the tyvek is not reusable. but lids are like 2 bucks for 12 and the tyvek and poly fill are very cheap..... for the innoc i mark my hole before i screw the lid on and after innoc, just put one of those circle bandaids on....
as for ur method... if it works for you., keep doing it.... there would be no reason to change unless contamination arises.
edit: just something else i thought about, someone using an lc or just innoc with syringes.... would be better suited to use docs tek. someone that may do g2g would be better suited with an easily removable lid like the one i describe.
Where do you get your jars btw? Ikea ones are highly overpriced (like £15 for 10 with lids... I think thats about $25 - $30) but the biggest i've been able to find around here.

P.S We do have a 'homebase' in the UK - and also B&Q so I will have a look for polyfill and tyvek. Problem is that until this next harvest (and also payday from work) I am skint. Your available balance: £0.00 FUCK YOU, CLYDESDALE BANK. (they recently charged me £70 [$139] for 2 bounced direct debits. Happend the same day I put money into the account to cover it. Absoloute theiving gypsies if you ask me. furious.

If you mean 1/2 pint for pftek, I just bought about 30 1/2 pint tumbers from asda, at around 79p for 4 they are a bargain. Never had a problem with contams using a layer of verm ontop, cover with a layer of foil with a tight rubber band holding it in place, then another layer of foil over that. When innoculating you take the first foil cover off and inject through the second layer of foil, then replace the first foil cover.

is polyfil the same as Hydrophobic cotton wool - as i have bought that and it says can be used in test tubes during sterilization and does not soak up water so stays dry!?
Also poundland sells paint suits not sure how reliable that will be and if it is tyvek!

I've only used Tyvek. Is the filter material for aquariums the same as polyfil? I'm thinking of a monotub with poly.

Polyfil is polyfil. The stuff is abundant, just go buy a bag. It's in literally every craft and sewing store in the world.

I'm glad I didn't start calling stores asking for "hydrophobic cotton wool"

That stuff might work, or it might be too dense. Worth a try if it's cheap.

that would be an equivalent to poly-fil. but a pillow sized bag of poly-fil is only a few dollars ($usd)
