Praying for other people to change

For this thread we will overlook how one imperfect person can see all of the repercussions of another's actions throughout time and accurately make such a judgment. (Dear God, I am a sinner, but make this other person more like me. Amen.)
Let's say a relative prays for me to give up cannabis and shrooms (no, not a real example). Either this sort of manipulative prayer is useless as nothing will happen or God will intervene and free will goes out the window.
I realize that logic is not the strong suit of the religious, but how can people resolve this seeming contradiction?

If I'm already ignoring the contradiction there's nothing to resolve.

I do not believe it logical to petition "God" with prayer at all.
This concept in itself for me, was one of the first nails in the coffin.
R.I.P God.

When did it come in the window?
Free will is thought based & hardly anyone on this planet knows how to control their thoughts To say you have free will, is another thought, which you do not make appear It just feels like you have control over your life, but everything you do is based on the functioning of your surrounding environment, so how do you control any of it?
Ive never 'prayed' for anyone, but sometimes in meditation when im immersed in bliss, someone will pop into my mind & ill just wish for them to experience it

a friend of mine told me once that prayer is something as simple as:
"WATER IS FUCKING AWESOME! IT FUCKING ROCKS! THANKS!"
prayers to him, basically were to thank his (many) Gods for life and things that made life good.

Not really as people who believe in sin must believe in free will. Without choice, there can be no choosing against God.

Easy...they don't care about your free will. Everyone is God's litte puppet, he is to obeyed and served and honored. They want to gain his respect by praying for something they think is "good" for you....
What if I pray to God for my relative to stop praying for me? Ya know, because I want them to ignore my pains and live there own life.
Which prayer does God choose to honor?

People who know what God really is, dont beleive in sin at all
Its impossible to sin against God, if you could sin against God, then God would not be Infinite
