Last night I tailed a canine unit...

... The sheriff departments canine unit squad car was parked next to a college last night, about 1:00am.
I was out for a walk and noticed him parked oddly, thought he was checking out the furniture store. I walked past, noticed the car was empty, continued on to where I was going to leech from a wifi spot, when I passed within a block of the cop walking his german shepard past a ton of apartment buildings. I think he was patrolling the area, waiting for the dog to go off, so he could arrest someone from the 30-40 apartments he passed.
He normally drives around with the sniffer in the backseat, waiting to search and detain someone when it starts yapping.
I followed him for an hour or so, he was walking this dog up and down a six block area. He noticed me and gave me a few passes with the squad car.
I think I'd better avoid carrying anything for a while now. They recognize me around here.
Is there anything wrong with this picture?
Just what are my rights when the dog is involved?

I have never heard of police dogs harassing people on foot. They are usually used in traffic stops or warrant searches.
Its possible though.
If the officer claims that the dog smells something, all your legal rights evaporate.

This Sheriff's Deputy does it on a weekly basis.
Almost got me once, but luckily I was with a smooth talker with lawyers blood in his veins.

I pulled up next to a k-9 a few weeks ago at a red light, and the dog started barking like crazy at me. Cop didn't even care.
Wouldn't have done him any good to harass me either, I was clean and I don't smoke.

You should smear small amounts of drugs all over the place where they walk so the cop is like "WTF is wrong with this dog!!" Lol

If you're rollin dirty, it's better to spray animal urine on the tires.
At any rate, the last thing I want is heat, in any way.
