26 Charged with Drug Trafficking....[Winnipeg]
    #11290011 - 10/21/09 02:43 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Oct. 21st 2009 - Winnipeg Free Press

WINNIPEG — Winnipeg police seized more than $100,000 worth of drugs and $250,000 of currency after a six-month investigation into a drug trafficking ring late last week.

Winnipeg Police Service officers said they executed 16 search warrants Friday.

Police said they searched three properties in central Winnipeg, two in East Kildonan, four in West Kildonan, two in North Kildonan, two in the North End, one in St. Boniface and two properties outside Winnipeg.

The Organized Crime Unit started an investigation in April, said police.

Twenty-six people are now charged in connection with the drug trafficking ring. Police did not release the names of the people charged.

Officers seized about $48,000 worth of cocaine, $45,000 worth of marijuana, $2,000 worth of ecstasy, $4,500 worth of methamphetamine, $2,000 worth of morphine and $500 worth of psilocybin.

Police also seized about $250,000 cash, $40,000 worth of jewelry, four vehicles, two hydraulic presses, two collapsible batons, three electronic control devices, one can of bear spray, an automatic hand gun, a loaded semi-automatic hand gun, a 12 gauge shot gun and a sword.

Officers also seized drug packaging material, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia in the busts.

Police also did not say which gang was involved in the ring.

WPS officers worked with Manitoba Corrections, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team and the RCMP during the investigation.

2 Hydraulic presses. Either they were bigger than the police knew or they were about to get bigger, either way 2 presses doesn't justify $2,000 in E. And it certainly wasn't the coke and weed that they were making pressies of. lol.

Investigation is a fairly loose term and can include anything from 24/7 surveilance on you to every place you go, or just checking phone records or something simple like that. Of course they want to make it sound like the tax dollars that go to investigating nothing go to something worthwhile, it's all bullshit.

they mean the first person to drop a dime on them was about 6 months ago.. around here they do investigation for up to a year.. but that was in the drug task force money days when they would get huge chunks of change by busting meth labs.. they were turning everyone into felons just for holding down some HCl and some NaOH, and getting paid for it! I used to be scared to clean my clogged drains in those days. although I would say that alot of the busts 75% were folks dealing in speed.. but there were quite a few bad busts.. usually a user that was essentially harmless but just had the wrong combo of household chems around. this was money paid in clean up fees and showing results for lab busts. those days have just about died due to ephedrine regulations..
hmm.. less drugs with gov regulation.. where have i heard that one before?

With 26 people indicted, It makes sense that they were doing 6 months of investigation.

And they could have been using the presses for hash too, I suppose?

But yes, they were probably about to get bigger considering the $250,000 cash they found...

The hydraulic presses ARE for the cocaine. You use the hydraulic presses to rerock and re-kilo the cocaine.

The hydraulic presses are most definitely not for the ecstasy, but for the cocaine.

Aren't most pill presses hand operated anyway? The one my old dealer had was like a fucking garlic press.

Sometimes, but many of them are automatic as well, but they are NOT little hydraulic pumps like described in the article. Not to mention those hydraulic pumps are found all the time by LE during cocaine raids.
