Syringe?  Very doubtful.  I've been working on getting a culture of this going from a spore print, off and on, for a few months now.  Like I keep starting, but something bad happens.  A few people here have good cultures, but I haven't seen them on the boards in a while.

thx Paresthesia for the input,
yes from time to time i had looked back into the old posts and seen this very attractive mushroom... and since it's a P. Eryingii variant or a very very close species ? , it seems to have similar requirements.

i saw your name in 1 of the old post from a year or so ago and you never got to try the strain ?  the particular strain looked like some sort of living vase or something, with large stipe  (shoulders?) and small cap(head?)...almost like a small sarcophagus or a Bodysnatcher Seed pod circa 1950s SiFi. :o

my technique and/or old house environments is full of all kinds of Bact and Molds so i like loaded syringes to work with.
anyway not much chance of a syringe then i would settle for a print.
keep in touch and remember ...out all contams, Imorph

I Have genetics, I'll need to grow them out and isolate, might take a few months.

thx you KooL 1,

i did actually think once to PM and query for a lead, since you already have the well known one in  "spike delivery ".

OK, i ll be waiting for the trumpets and an formal announcement that you ve skillfully succeeded  in finding a isolate.

do you use nitrogen for storage ?

Cryogenicz no liquid nitrogen for eternal tissue or spore storage ?
Slats are fine as long as you keep your electric
bill eternally paid.

At a guess do think that P. nebrodensis is variant or close but diff species?
if i remember right i read that the 2 could cross their haploid tissues to become viable diploid tissue with no incompatibility ...that would mean they re 1 or so very close ?

Gee, you know someone on the planet should have this things' spores or growing near. maybe someone in Sicily could get and send a print even a dirty one from the fields.

the cost would nt be that much for a standard international letter. he/she could be sent ...i forgot what the coupons are called to get postage.  Imorph

I would pay 50 bucks for a good P. nebrodensi plate or slant.... Just throwing that out there.

Last I heard...the nebrodensi culture that is around here is fairly tired and all that's left is trying to revive and re-isolate off some fresh spores that are laying around here.

hey Mephisto,

the particular culture that you're referring to, is that the one 1st donated to the FSR by a guy name "Fabio" ? if that is the same and  was mono cultured then maybe the dreaded  " Senescence" condition may have manifested. yeah, that s probably alot of transfers and time.  the link is below  "Pleurotus nebrodensis - the white king oyster or Bailin oyster mushroom " in similar treads.

umm...i wonder if someone could easily mix 2 or recombine diff mycelia at home...it s beyond me...celluar fusion...i know they use anti freeze (ethylene glycol) in some procedures with higher plant cell fusion along with cellulase.

well anyway we got the skilled Cryogenicz who said that he's working on isolating and resurrection the  Phoenix...see earlier post if you havent already.... or maybe some simple tedious (spores) backcrossing of the now weak var. with the strong P. Eryngii ?

reasonably, i m keeping my fingers crossed, Imorph

I have the nebrodensis culture distributed by Fabio, called 'white crusader' on slant. I had a half-arsed go at fruiting it on sawdust last year, but got no mushrooms. It appeared otherwise healthy. If people are interested I can grow it out and send out samples.
