Mammillaria Vetuls ssp. Gracilis cv. 'Arizona Snowcap'
    #11291204 - 10/21/09 12:56 PM (8 years, 1 month ago)

How about that name huh?

Anyhow it has flowers!

Also took a pretty pic of my recently re-potted Copiapoa Hypogeae.

I believe they are self-sterile.

It would be very nice to get some seed as they are decently hard to find in the US, which is odd because they are an extremely attractive cultivar IMO.

The spines aren't sharp either, it's surprisingly not painful to handle at all.

Mmm...nice cacti.  Where are all the others you were saying you just got?  Is that Mammillaria gracilis that's flowering in a 2" pot?  Awesome.

Prob. because there's so many damn Mammillarias out there, and with sometimes similar forms...then come the hybrids too.

I think it got bumped off the first page.

They're all in new pots soaking up the sunlight.

Indeed, it is among my favorite cacti!

Seems to be quite the prolific pupper and flowerer too.

then you'll need to get more of those to get seed. at least 2 so they mate for life.

Yeah there sure are a lot of mamms, but I just find this one far more interesting than most.

I'm surprised it isn't more popular in American cactus culture.

It's actually a monstrose version of Vetula ssp. Gracilis.

Oh and it is in a 2 3/4" pot

What a cute guy! The name is apt as it does remind me of a snowball. Purty little flowers too.

Your Copiapoa tuft looks cool too. :stoned:

I have NOT been able to find a Copiapoa Hypogeae anywhere... There are plenty of Copiapoa's all over the place, but that Hypogeae is hard as hell to find... Beautiful cactus Dan...
