Bulk sub slowing near 100% colonization
    #11291182 - 10/21/09 12:51 PM (8 years, 1 month ago)

Hi all,

My bulk sub has really slowed down since it reached 95% and while it is slow moving still, it really hasn't colonized the 5% spots much over the last 2 days.  Should I just be patient and wait it out or are the very bottom spots of the tub possibly too densely packed to reach 100%.  It has been about 2 weeks since spawning a 3 lb rye berry bag to 20 lbs of poo from High Mountain.

Thanks for your thoughts!

That is a disgusting amount of metabolites. I think that tub is done for.

I thought metabolites weren't a bad thing? It really doesn't smell like anything. Not sweet or funky.  Pretty much smells like it did when I put the poo in.  Here is a close up of the surface of the tub if it helps.

So should I consider stirring it up?  Or wait a few more days?  Or try to fruit it?  I didn't think it looked that bad myself, just super metabolized.  Well at least my PEs look good   Exactly why I had my eggs in a few baskets

I don't know. Metabolites form as a reaction to fight off infections. That sub must be seriously contaminated for it to have that many metabolites. Looks like they are even pooling on the bottom.

DO not stir it up, you will only disturb the myc network, and I doubt it would recover seeing it is struggling as it is.

You can try to fruit it. I am skeptical though, never seen that many metabolites.
