Varieties Producing the Largest Fruits
    #11290507 - 10/21/09 09:01 AM (8 years, 1 month ago)

Hey I'm wondering which varieties of a couple species are most likely to produce the largest fruits (greatest yield) from multispore that would then be cloned in an attempt to preserve ideal traits and increase pinset and yield.
What I mean by this is it seems for Cubensis that the PE "strain" seems different than all other cubes because from multispore it consistently produces "different" looking fruits that seem to me to be quite larger than other "strains" of cubensis (higher yield).
While there is no doubt variation between the other "strains" (and within every strain), it seems like a number of these varieties placed side by side would be very hard to guess the identities.
So for cubes it seems PE is what Im looking for.
What about for Pans? The "Goliath"?
What about the fruits of sclerotia species?
Thanks

Largest fruits? Or greatest yield? For each species and strain? Your question really doesn't make much sense.
But the answer is going to be "an isolated culture".

Yes clones of the best specimens will be used
But what I am determining which strains to start from at multispore in selecting those specimens
Cubensis: PE
Pans: ?
Sclerotia producing sprecies: ?
The ? is what Im trying to find out

PE has one of the poorest yields.

I dunno bout that. I was getting pretty typical yields from my PE.
It does take a little longer though.

To answer the original question, it's not one of the largest strains. B+, Orissa, Texan? are some of the larger ones.

But PE is a nice and dense fruit, and very potent. It's a good choice overall.

From what I've seen, substrate has a huge affect on fruit size. Straw  seems to yield larger fruits than denser subs or cased grains.
