    #11285292 - 10/20/09 05:53 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

Hi, i found a few of these on the sides of some trees which i failed to ID. They look like a gourmet, but im not sure (and i didn't pick them). I would appreciate it greatly if someone could ID these for me... im hungry!

they're called a conk for a reason, it'd probably approximate chewing on a boiled 2x4

If they are as healthy as many claim, then it is well worth the trouble of making tea...

Upper Peninsula of where?

Washington?

Anyway, cool find and good luck with your tea, or cultures, or whatever you plan on doing with them!

Thank you Twiztidsage, I plan on making tea's for this upcoming winter. I usually always get a cold. I would love to take cultures but Im not so well equipped for this. I lack a flowhood, agar and dish's.

They were found in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I will not get too specific as i do not trust the harvesting etiquette of some people. When i take from the woods i always leave a few behind and ensure that what i take will appear in the next season. I don't know if Ganoderma is something i should be worried about but i would think that it CANNOT hurt.

They were found within throwing distance of Lake Superior or another Lake (smaller of-course).

Thank you very much. I knew as soon as i saw it (my buddy saw it first) that it was somewhat extraordinary. I'll find a few more before the onset of winter, God willing.
