germinatining b.caapi and viridis seeds
    #11285116 - 10/20/09 05:30 PM (8 years, 1 month ago)

after many failed attempts at trying to find and buy these plants. ive got some fresh seeds shiped from brazil out of this year crop.
ive planted some of the seeds in a jiffy pellets that has been treated with anti fungicial treatment a few ive put into potting compost. they have a heat mat under them and a tent over them.
has any grower's had nay succes with viridis i know the caapi shouldnt be too much of  problem.
sorry pic aint great.

You're missing a [ befor the first url.

Should be:

That would probably fix the picture.

For germinating b. caapi, you basically just stick them in moist soil with the wing part facing up and give 'em high humidity. As for p. viridis, I copied this from Erowid:

1. Soak the Psychotria viridis seeds for about 15 minutes in a mild bleach solution (2 Tbs bleach in a cup (8 oz) of water). This will help keep them from molding during their long germination period.
2. Rinse and soak the seeds in clear water for 12 hrs.
3. Plant seeds in potting soil about 1/4 inch deep (8 mm).

Irie SMUCKA,
Still crappy shot!
But it sounds like you've got everything covered.
Now you just need to be very patience.
Mine [P.V.] took a least 6wks to germ, but some 14wks. The Caapi should do some thing a bit faster.
Good luck Bro

Caapi seeds need to be fresh. They lose viability real quick.

Irie,
Just got mine come through today. Probably the same source.
P.V. leaf and seeds & Alba leaf, also two strains of Caapi, Tucunaka & Caupuri.
The alba leaf looked the worst for wear but the Viridis although black in patches looks like it should make it.

I have 20 seeds of viridis. Does anyone else have any other suggestions other then what is on Erowid to help seeds germinate quicker?

Irie,
So soaked the P.V. for 18hrs then surface sowed them, (I hate not being able to see what's going on), on a soil/Verm/per mix. Tray covered and bagged.
The P.V. & P.Alba leafs didn't make the journey too good. The alba had only about a two inch square of green, the rest browned. The P.V. made it better with just the tip browned. Rested them down on a Verm/Per mix, covered & bagged.
The Caapi were soaked 24hrs then planted wing up in potting soil, used some 5lt water bottle ghetto shroom terrarium, to plant them in.
Have two varieties, Tucunaka & Caupuri. 50 in each.
They've been down one week, just, and have 10 out of 50 Tucunaka sprouting already.
How are yours doing SMUCKA?
Respect
Z
