Take the cake, put it in some kind of container, fill it with water and put it in your fridge for 12 hours. Also I'd start fanning at least once a day.

It's just what I would do, direct sunlight would warm the container, and warm water is a haven for contaminants. Also people are out a lot more in the sunlight...you wouldn't want anyone peeking, would you?

Hmmmm, well it depends upon where you live about the sun warming the container, here, the sun wouldn't do shit. Cold water is just as much a haven for contaminates And people really wouldn't see or notice a small terrarium in a person's backyard.

Can someone explain what cold shocking does? I have a cake that started pinning the day I started it in the fruiting chamber, which was last thursday. Still, no shroomies. Although I do still some pin growth. What is cold shock and will it help?

what I think:
Cold shocking makes the shroom think that he'll die soon (freeze his cells), so he wants to produce spores very quickly so that his race won't vanish from our :cool:

So I think if you already have pins, coldshocking won't help...
check for right humidity/temperature/fresh air exchanges.

You didn't specify you're minimum nightime temps.
As long as you make sure it doesn't freeze, you'll be alright. Wrap it in foil if you're worried about light or people seeing it.
