The Nature of Happiness
    #11282368 - 10/20/09 08:21 AM (7 years, 11 months ago)

Happiness

:grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin:

What isit?

We all want lasting unbroken happiness, to experience total satisfaction & fulfillment
Every sentient Being wants perfect happiness

Surely the only way to find true lasting happiness is to find out the fundamental nature of happiness, what isit? what brings about happiness?

What is the nature of happiness?

:peace:

Everlasting happiness doesn't seem viable at all to me. There's definitely something natural and healthy about our range of emotions. We need 'em all.

How could one be happy without the contrast of unhappiness (however it manifests), anyway?

Theres a happiness that has no opposite

A happiness that's happy to be happy & just as happy to be sad

Unconsciously all beings seek everlasting happiness
Im saying to seek it (or more understand its nature) consciously in order to stabalize the mind into it

I know we can be accepting of sadness, but how can we be happy about it?

That's completely contradictory and a seeming misuse of the word

It is very contradictory, but also beyond all contradictions

Awareness & happiness are the same thing to me
So as long as i am aware i am happy, whether im aware of the feeling of happiness or the feeling of sadness...theres an underlying joy of being, its in everyone
If the foundation of your being wasn't happiness you couldn't exist

I depends though, im not defining hapiness as a passing mood or being 'smiley'
Its a deep contentment & satisfaction, beyond the mind, beyond mood swings
Its not really thinking based, its feeling based

The point of the thread is to observe where happiness comes from, outside or within?

:peace:

Here is exactly the answer you are looking for:

Happiness is solely determined by the way in which you perceive (a)yourself, and (b)those external stimulai that affect you as you go about your day.  Now, since your personal happiness is a direct result of how you perceive your life, I stand by the observation that happiness is entirely the consequence of one's own mental strength.

I pretty much live in a state of perpetual happiness.  Sure, it's not PERFECTLY perpetual (there are blips of uncertainty/sadness/moodiness), but I am only human afterall

Perceieve happy and you will be happy.

Having found it
I wasn't really looking for any particular answer
But all are welcome

Happiness is a journey of changing who you are to become who you are... happy?
