talking to jars of rice
    #1128071 - 12/10/02 09:34 AM (14 years, 2 months ago)

i was given this great book a few years ago, lots of pretty pictures, only got around to reading the text last night.....

"this experiment involved placing cooked rice in two identical glass containers. afterwards he/she talked to the rice everyday saying 'thankyou' to one and 'you fool' to the other. he/she did this for one month to see the results. two elementary school children talked to the rice everyday for one month as soon as they came home from school. as a result, the rice that the children had said 'thankyou' to, was nearly fermented and had a nice mellow malted rice aroma. the rice that the children had said 'you fool' to, had turned black and had rotted.
they said the smell was digusting beyond description."

so, if we are at home it could be considered simply a bizarre recipe for making miso (hint - doesn't have to be rice).
miso is very good for you and can be used in many ways - with peanut butter in a sandwich? so, whenever you cook rice or when necessary, put some aside to make miso, 2 jars, when you come home after a bad day let it all out on the 'fool' jar, when feel good blow the 'thankyou' jar (or whatever you name it  - ) a kiss.

swap the jars' positions, vary the experiment, different jars, different mixes of cooked grains, keep a record, try it with yoghurt if you don't like miso. but just keep doing it in two sterile labelled jars and abuse the hell out of one jar and be sweet to the other, name one after someone you dislike...

if you just keep getting rot, well  you must be one hard bastard.
but what if it settles into a pattern for you and the percentages start creeping higher? then, for many years the abused jar always rots, the happy jar is always delicious.  maybe you can turn your mind onto other things.

I think you should post pictures of your jars on your website so that we can root (rot) for our favorite and test your conjecture.

That's a wonderful suggestion, crisps.

It made me feel all warm and fuzzy right down to my toes.

Cheers,

YOU SHOULD TRY TALKING TO THE COLONIZING JARS!
No kidding.. It is prooven that talking to plants is good.. but talking to the mushrooms themselves is better!! I don't really talk with them, but have a sort of comunication...
Try this and tell me wich jar was colonized quiqlier?
I talk only nicely to them, cause I don't want any contams.

It is prooven that talking to plants is good..

I hope you aren't talking about "The Secret Life of Plants" as that book is riddled with errors and false conclusions. I would be very interested in your proof of this phenomenon. Sources?

the book's called 'messages from water'. check www.hado.net
it seems they have published a second book of water crystal photography.

(from the Hado website introduction underneath a photo of a water cyrstal)
The exquisite beauty of the above crystal of frozen tap water is clearly the result of Hado being projected at it.

I have stated many times that when one interjects such phrases as "obviously" or "clearly" then the surrounding statement is usually highly suspect. These phrases are intended to make the reader feel stupid if he does not agree with them, so these words are a coercive force.

There is absolutely nothing about the photo that speaks of projected Hado. If I showed it to a thousand Americans, not one would come to that conclusion that had not read the book.

yeh but ...americans? half of 'em don't even know where canada is.
i have also had confrontations, in political discussion, over the use of 'obviously' and 'clearly' and agree with your view.

actually i found the website not as well presented as the book, which is much better as it serves more as a historical document of the development of water crystal photography, rather than a vehicle to sell some supposed universal panacea..
for each water sample they use, they make 100 specimens, freeze them and photogragh them as many times as they can. of course no two crystals are the same, so they look for tendencies which are known as grid crystal or laminar crystal structures.
at first they took pictures of crystals formed from water taken from the taps, rivers and lakes of different regions of japan. polluted water rarely crystalized properly.  they went on to obtaining samples from various locations around the globe. they feel they are developing a new field of study, which is still in its infancy with unknown potential.
ive owned this book for  a few years and, until now,  never really thought about it much beyond tripping out on some of the beautiful pics.
the latter half of the book starts getting weird, they play music, from classical to heavy metal, to the water samples.
they print out words like 'demon' 'soul' 'angel' 'hitler' 'do it' and tape them to the jars and even sit the jars on people's pictures overnight.
for these tests they use the same batch of distilled water for all crystals. 100 samples per time. assuming they whole thing is not a scam, the results are quite interesting and seemingly consistent.
labelled 'dirty' the water is unable to form any crystalline structures and looks similar to the photos of polluted city water. labelled 'beautiful', the photos show large gorgeous crystals formed from the same batch of water, in some cases all 100 samples.
the book doesn't go too deeply into the theory of it all, rather they just present full color photographs and describe the circumstances of their creation. they ask the reader to draw one's own conclusions.
also interesting were the  results of writing the words in english, japanese or hangul, the author wonders if there is a difference in the etymology of the words as the photos were consistent within their sample groups but quite different to each other.
yes, broswamswam, implying human thought can directly influence water!
just asking for it, aren't they?

Oh, I thought they were implying that water was multi-lingual in that it could read the taped words from several languages.
