Pre Mixed Substrate Prep?

I'm kind of a newbie grower so please feel free to offer advice, correct me etc, I certainly do not mind.

I have read the Simple Cubensis grow guide on this site a few times over and I plan to have it right next to me and follow it step by step (minus the pressure cooker, cannot afford). I was planning on using both the flour/vermiculite cakes and Ralphster's Zoo Mix and making 2 batches.

My question (which I couldn't answer by searching through older posts) is what preparation (if any) is needed for the Zoo Mix?

Anything else that a 1st time grower might need to know would be most appreciated,
