Yeah, I bought a few supplies on amazon and noticed the 'other people bought' suggestions. You could have just followed those suggestions and you'd have a complete grow ready to go without know a damn thing!!

or better yet you can say sod the brf and get some rye , wbs , or popcorn and have yourself a more satisfying grow than what you are about to undertake with all the mixing , jarring , waiting , and displeasure with yield ! dont like cakes

use whole grain brown rice.
you dont have to use verm and you dont necessarily have to pc it. therefore it is more nutrient rich by weight compared to brf and verm.
that was the first flush of oakridge grown on whole grain brown rice, then crumbled and cased with just vermiculite.
second flush was literally twice the dry weight, with about 2/3 as many shrooms

what tek did you follow? im curious because i havent seen many successful grows using straight brown rice and not using a pc. did you grind the rice?

ha thats funny, cause my plan actually is this.
prints > syringes > wbs > coir
and also at the same time so i can get some skrooms sooner and try out the different strains
syringe > LC > brf cakes

lol it doesn't always work out that way ... pf jars can be a mother on colonization time ... if both projects were started together its likely to all pan out about the same time with the time you lose in colonization of cakes , you ll be spawned for a week in your tubs before you even open one of the pfs ! best of luck to you nonetheless !

i didnt necessarily strictly follow any particular tek, i tend to just "wing it" lol.
the closest would probably be i think its called the 49er tek or the 9er tek, something like that.
i did not grind it. i just cook it like normal rice, bring 1 and 1/2 cups of water for every cup of rice to a boil.
when water begins boiling reduce heat to lowest setting, and add rice. cook, uncovered until all water is cooked away, but dont let the rice overcook and get all mushy.
if too much water is left when desired texture is achieved just let the rice set in the pan a few minutes stirring until the excess water is evaporated away. or you can just add a little verm or even just dry rice to the cooked rice to absorb extra water during sterilizing process.
add rice too jars, do not pack too tight, only very lightly tamp as you add rice. leave 1/2" from top to add dry verm layer for "filtering"
once fully colonized you can just fruit the jars directly into a fc like a pf cake, or you can crumble and case or just spawn them to bulk grain, such as rye or wbs.
i tend to do the latter two, mostly i just crumble and case them since i really have no need for bulk techniques and i have much higher success rates with casings than just dunking and rolling cakes.

So do you sterilize the jars after you cook the rice and fill the jars?

yep. after you fill the jars with the rice you can pretty much follow the pf-tek just the same; sterilize, colonize, fruit.
or branch off and use the jars for bulk spawn etc.
