They're stuck!!

Couple questions.
1) Self explanitory- invetro pins I let go for shits and giggles, but they're jammed in damn tight, how the &^%#$ can I get them out without breaking the bottle?



2)*last question*
I've read here and there that bruising causes loss of potency. Now, just how much of a loss are we talkin? 50%, 2%, or just a misguided myth or assumption?
I ask because as you'll see, I like to draw, and I find the blue bruising factor interesting, and the stems a blank canvas.
Am I curious about potency loss?-yea
will I stop doodling on stems?... probably not, unless the loss is measurably high (and myth-busted)

Thoughts?

held nice and still in the jar, and I can be more generous with my time as it won't dry out, ... Just won't come out either! :crazy2:

If I have to break it open, I'm going to wait till the others mature a bit more.
Think if I crack the glass at stress points, it may break around the cake, leaving the cake itself, for the most part, unharmed. I wouldn't mind a second flush off this one :grin:

lol all contingent upon the overall colonization of the cake ... some ppl dont know that a small column of non colonized material will usually run down the middle if released from the jar just a little earlier than what it should be ( cant see inside so its a common mistake) in that case it would just bore out and not grab ....

Said to hell with the jar (when I was stocking supplies I didn't realize any cakes I made in them wouldn't come out in one piece. And (oh this is steaming my ass bad!!) I haven't had so much as 1 pin with any casing I've tried. They just sit for weeks until they finally get contaminated, dry, anything but pin!!!

So, using the ball of a jewelers hammer, (don't ask) I laid the jar on a slab of concrete on it's side, tapped around for gaps (hollow sound) and gave it 1 good tap on the seam. only issue was the shattered glass dust and shards that embedded themselves into the cake from the pressure. Brushed it off with a soft paint brush and tooth brush for the peaces really embedded, (both sterilized in alcohol) rinsed the cake real good, sprinkled with verm, put back into the FC only picked the biggon, biggest I've gotten so far. But the casings are a real bitch. (just using straight verm and crumbled brf cakes, ... all I have for the time being.

hang on for a few, I'm gonna hang 2 cups from medicine bottles from opposing ends on a coat hanger from string, adjust thier distance till the weigh's evenly balanced, then put the mushroom on one side and pennies (1982 or newer) to the other cup until they are again evenly balanced, take the number of pennies multiplied by 2.5 for the weight in grams because 1959 to 1982 they weighed 3.11 grams, except the Wheat Ears Reverse penny made in steel from 1943 that indeed weigh 2.67 grams.

I was originally joking, but it actually seemed pretty easy and more accurate then "how much does the shroom in this pic weigh?"
but that shroom wont fit in a 1 tsp cup, so I used large medication bottles (Bipolar comes with a lot of meds :shrug:)
and already constructed it, took 2 min.

I have two of them (got one for free). It's the best $25 I have ever spent in regards to anything that is illegal or precision. I seriously use mine several times a week and they last forever if you take care of them.

Plus one thing i noticed about getting a scale is I started getting all that I pay for. No more short sacks of weed or eyeballing anything. Definitely one of the most important tools I have.

I figured though this as about as inaccurate as they come, it's better then outright guessing. I never buy anything so never anything to shorted on, but If you want a level 5 trip, it helps to know how much you have, how much your taking, and how much extra you have if you want to up it some.

Dont hate.  I used this same tek before. if you know your weights your starting out with it can be pretty accurate.  And you have to give credit,cause not too many people can think out of the box enough to come up with that solution.  :vaped:

Needed a good pic, can find a better one online then I can take of the same tool.
It's a dry embossing stylus.
they're used to raise designs on paper, and are intended to provide a sharp point of pressure with a smooth surface to prevent poking through the paper, or in this case the skin of the mushroom. see example here
light pressure leaves a slightly darker watery brown on the stem that fades to dark blue within a couple minutes. Warm air will expedite the process ( I'm as cold blooded as a fish so I'm usually in front of a space heater whenever possible (my dad had a heart attack leaving him with poor circulation, as he was always cold, the house was always kept at 85F. (a bit warm for Seattle) I went through high school wearing 2 sweatshirts with the car heater full blast while everyone around me wore shorts and t-shirts, earning me the childhood nickname "Mr. Freeze"
(not sure how that ties in now, but there it is, I like warm air (not warm climates) and the air seems to contribute to the bluing yada yada yada:tongue2:

Make sure the weights are equal distances from the end of the hanger to be balanced. Props for the make shift scale. :thumbup:

I wish 56 grams!!! as for the distance, the string wasn't the exact same length, so I adjusted the location of the zero mark, rather then adjusting the cup or off weights (pennies)
