I know we've all felt the machine at some point in our lives!!!
    #11277802 - 10/19/09 04:32 PM (8 years, 1 day ago)

because it was feeling how depressing it was having no idea what life meant that caused me to get really interested in psychedelics and thinking for myself/reading.

Enjoy!! Give thoughts, I would, but gotta go right now.

Interesting worthy of a bookmark. However the truth is painful and full of melancholy.

yeah, the video is definitely depressing, but very profound.
As Homer said:
"Better be a poor servant of a poor master."

I personally believe that this is the end of mankind. This feeling of insignificance and uneasiness. Psychedelics are irrelevant: though they engage the user in a profound, introspective quest that helps them come to peace with their existence, really, there's no benefit psychedelics bring that simple thinking and meditating cannot.

In some ways, we need a massive impact on the human race. As scary as it sounds, something needs to humble mankind: perhaps a plague or near-extinction. I think that mankind is self-destructive because of our intellect. Though our combined intelligence has given us the technology and convenience of modern society, these comforts have diverted our intelligence away from spirituality and coming to reason with ourselves.

We can be happy in an overpopulated world, but the problem is that nobody is comfortable with feeling insignificant, so the masses feel unhappy.

so yeah, I definitely recommend you guys watch it when you have a chance.

I agree that humanity is going to need that kick in the ass first.

The way society, politics, modern culture, and technology have progressed has led to a system doomed for failure, which has endless boundaries set up to distance people from whats going on. At the rate we are attempting to put band aids on all the problems, they are bound to collectively erupt at some point.

Probably more like the end of mankind's part in whatever larger evolutionary process is unfolding. We developed opposable thumbs and overgrown frontal lobes; climbed down out of the trees; developed language, writing, history; forged steel clock-springs; drew gridlines on a globe; arranged silicon gates; decoded our own biology; and then, our part will be done -- the rest of the endeavor will be for whatever post-human entity comes next...

Aside from the regurgitation of Postman and McLuhan (who were both fairly depressive cultural critics) I can't say that the guy, himself, was particularly being a bummer. He seemed a little hopeful about the YouTube, Web 2.0, thing...

Regardless, and irregardless, of whatever happens next, we will have had our moment in the sun, and it was pretty damn good sometimes. I leave you with the Happiness of Glenn Glould.
