Weed Trimming As a Substrate
    #11274247 - 10/18/09 10:06 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

so im starting to get multiplying rye berry jars colonizing...and i just cased and fruited one....but i was wondering if i could spawn rye to weed trimmings as a bulk sub.? would i have to sterilize or pasteurize it...i prefer pasteurizing so no thc melts....and if i cant spawn it to bulk can i put it in some jars with some verm. and water and pressure cook as normal so i could inoculate with one of my multiplying rye jars?....help me out

I would always pasteurize all my bulk. Also I dont think using it as a substrate would work as well as rye or WBS or BRF

Give it a shot

I doubt that is the case, it seems like he's just interested in experimenting with a bulk substrate. Although I don't think it will do well with resinous leaves, some outer fan leaves may work. I don't know the science behind it and what cannabis leaves can offer to dung or wood loving mushrooms, but it would be interesting nonetheless.

What's the worst that could happen?  :samurai:

Hemp fibers make a decent substrate.

You could do that, but why waste those trimmings?  They could be used to make hash.  Make hash first, and then use them.  The thc won't be absorbed into the mushrooms, or affect their potency in anyway, so it would be a total waste.
