Recurring Dreams
    #11275114 - 10/19/09 02:12 AM (8 years, 1 month ago)

About every month I have a dream where I'm attacked by a Grizzly Bear at home.

So Freud, what does that mean?

Are you doing anything in particular when the bear attacks? Usually a recurring dream will either relate to something that is a big deal in your life, or an innate fear that you have.
In the second case (innate fear) it wouldn't necessarily be a fear of bears, but possibly a fear of being caught off guard in a place where you should be safe by something that shouldn't be there.

Are you currently in a relationship that might not be doing too well? A bear could symbolize overwhelming obstacles or competition as well. Maybe you've got asshat roomates... I dunno.

maybe there is someone or something in your home that you see as a threat, or is giving you a feeling of insecurity or hostility.

i constantly have a dream that I am walking by a grassy cliff, and a barrage of large and small boulders comes rolling down the hill on to me.

none of them specifically hits me or crushes me but I almost instantly find myself covered by them and completely engulfed in darkness and suffocating, then I wake up as I take my last breath.

1. No, I don't even live close to bears especially Grizzlies.

2. Maybe, but who doesn't want all things in their personal life exposed no matter how minor it might be.

3. Maybe, mainly with a friend from college but I'm done with him.

I used to have dreams that I got hit by lightning all the time and they were so real and terrifying and I could actually feel the pain of the electric shock.

I was told that this often corresponded to a big change in a person's life. It had started soon before I left for college. I don't have them very often any more, but once in a while.

It has left me with a complete crippling fear of lightning and thunderstorms and also walking around the corners of buildings as that is when I always get hit in the dreams.

Irrational I know, but real nonetheless. <----- that should not be a word.

Avatars in dreams aren't always meant to be taken literally.. often the mind will create archetypes for certain thoughts in different forms.
A recurring dream usually indicates a problem or issue in your life that your mind perceives as ongoing and must find a resolution to.

I should mention in the latest dream with a grizzly bears, it played out like a movie.  The bear got into the house and tore down every door.  I was up in the 3rd floor with my dad.  We both had shot guns shooting it down.

My thinking is that dreams don't make much sense or reason.  It's just random thoughts but recurring dreams seem intersting to me.

Sorry, I did not mean to construe that the dream was about a fear of bears at all, or even had anything to do with them. I was just wondering if there was always some action/activity that you will be doing in your dream when the bear shows up/attacks you.

If your actions/activities are random then you can probably rule out the bear being an instrument of vengeance or consequence.

How is your family life?

What is your relationship like with your Father?

How about your mother?

I was having a few constant drug related dreams at a time until I had a heavy dream where I kept snorting different crushed up substances from different mounds. I remember laying down feeling fuuucked in my dream, and I actually woke up feeling very burnt out and sick to my stomach. After that I quit messing with pills and those dreams haven't occurred since. it's been about 2-3 months.

I'm sure your dream will just get more clear until you "get it"

And I still may ... (sigh) ... I still may.Be patient.
I must keep reminding myself of this.

Everything usually starts in the back yard.  I'm roaming my back yard which is fairly wooded.  Out of nowhere either a Grizzly shows up or some one has a hit on me and sicks a Grizzly on me.

My Sigmund Freud analysis goes as...

The Grizzly Bear attacking me at home is my internal desire to leave the nest occupied by my mother and father.  The Bear is my Id chasing me to move out of the house.

"Bears are symbols of calm, stoic strength. Bears also indicate a time of introspection. If you are dreaming of a bear sleeping or hibernating, this is a message to do a little soul searching before you present an idea to the world. If a bear is chasing you, this means you are avoiding a big issue in your life, and it is time to deal with it. If the bear is standing up, this is a sign you need to defend your beliefs."

Interesting but I feel these dream analysis are like horoscopes.  It's so open ended and vague that it's sure to be correct about anything in anyone's life.

Yeah that's true. I don't know how can a bear represent, on an unconscious level, the same thing for two different persons.

But I still think some of those meanings are quite interesting and may hold some truth, somehow.
