conocybe of michoacan
    #11273730 - 10/18/09 10:53 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

michoacan  is a big state i only got to know a few cities there and town and i already found 7 spots in the road from cd hidalgo to morelia  with psilocybe i will post pictures later once i upload the  however in one of the multiple stop in the road , i found this stange conocybe , and in the moment i see then the cap remind me of ps mexicana but you know how fragile conocybe stems are  but from the cap they look like mexicana  well i broke one or 2 until i dig one and see the base of the micelium and the base blue , the pictures dont show much of the bluing but was there , i was so excited  this is a remarkable  find for me  guess all my mycological dreams are becoming true ...here the pictures.

try to use diferent setting but i could not make to look the bluing so good .. but i hope the specimen is still  intact ....

at least what i consider a myth  is now a reality for me and theywill find me againg iam sure , i will look for then too.... this mushrooms are so tiny :sherlock2:

I can see some on the stipe near the gills. Or on second thought,  maybe I'm just high.

Is it possible that this is the mythical Conocybe siligineoides that has eluded Guzman since Wasson's 1955 collection?

I'd love to examine a specimen.

Do you think it could be Conocybe smithii or something similar?  It's a summer mushroom up here in the PNW, but maybe the weather permits it to fruit now in your area?  Probably not smithii, but it's the only one that matches in my mental database

My 10 minutes of research suggests that Conocybe siligineoides grows from wood, but it coulda been woody there under that moss I suppose!

asome finds catu!

defently not c. smithii, possibly cyanopus or as workman mentioned, siligineoides,
the stripe has thickness and gills have spacing unlike the active conocybes i have encountered.
