Azure question
    #11273401 - 10/18/09 10:06 PM (8 years, 5 hours ago)

I just came back from my first hunt, but unfortunately I didn't manage to find any azures at the beach.  Upon getting there I quickly realized a huge question....Exactly which habitat do azures grow-First comes the water-then sand-then sand/dune grass-then small plants and lots of spiders at the forest edge-and then forest.....At first I walked around in the dune grass near the beach but couldn't find any mushrooms whatsoever so I looked around at the forest edge, before finally looking in the trails in the forest edge.  I noticed the most mushrooms in the forest, but figured azures had always grown more t words the beach in the dune grass......

It's my understanding they grow in coastal dune grasses. Never found any though.

uhh yeah. all up in dune grass. an easier habitat to spot than little woodchip beds dotted all over coastal cities in random places. go to beach. find dunes by the wata. look alot. find azures, maybe. or cyans, maybe.

This is like asking me for gold when all I've done is read about where to find gold (and haven't yet found it myself). Based on the literature, if I were you, I would go to the Oregon coast. I would find three parks along the coast whether small or big. Ones that have lawns. I would comfortably walk each park enjoying the scenery, taking my camera, and thinking of the Shroomery and how cool World Spirit and the rest of the guys and gals are.

Hunting is a lot about creativity and letting go.

You just find a place and....go....and enjoy it.

If you find some, fantastic.

If you don't, it is still a pleasant experience.

You will increase your chances by strategically selecting the best habitat for the mushroom you are looking for.

You will further increase your chances by opening up and risking failure.

The more places you look (that match the right habitat and climate) the further you will increase your chances.

I am confident if you follow these statements and you diligently look, you will be successful if it's meant to be.

I read it and came to the conclusion tall grass seems a lot more annoying than short grass but will try

It's dune grass, it can't be that "annoying."  If I were in the PNW, I'd be on the coast.  I just think it'd be a killer habitat to hunt and prolly less competition.  I thought all this out bc I was looking to take a roadtrip to the PNW but unfortunately that fell through.  You're blessed to be in the area you're in if your on the hunt for actives.  You're outlook might work in the short run but WorldSpirit's will help you in the long run.
