multiple id [now with spore print]
    #11273362 - 10/18/09 09:59 PM (8 years, 3 days ago)

after 3 days of rain, i decided to go down the road and do a little mushroom hunting. didnt really find anything good. all babies. unable to identify any except maybe D which i think is a pan cyan.

Habitat:
hawaii, in a cow pasture
D and E were found in some cow doodoo
F was found next to a small pond growing from the mud
the rest, A B C, were growing in the grass

Gills: Stem: Cap:
see pics

Bruising:
A bruised brown to black
D bruised blue
others did not bruise

Spore print color:
see pics
F did not produce a print

Other information:
they all smell like plain old edible mushrooms

You need to specify where each individual type of mushroom was growing.

That said, by the looks of that bluing, the mushrooms labeled "D" do look quite active.

A. looks to be Panaeolus subbalteatus, prints looks jet black also. wait for trusted identifier though.

B. resembles lacrymaria velutina, don't trust me though, not familiar with this species.

D. May be the same as A, prints seem to match as well.

E. Resembles Psilocybe cubensis, reddish brown spore print? Again these are my guesses, i am not familiar with this species. Any Bruising?

F. no idea

A and D are definitely different. D bruised blue, A bruised brown to black on the stem and not at all on the cap.

thanks for the reply

Not all shrooms bruise the same color some don't bruise at all. My guess was based on where you found them and the color of the spore print.

I would like to see what a trusted id'r will say about E. I would figure that would of bruised, any pics of the cap?

C. looks to be panaeolus foenisecii, this grows in same areas with Panaeolus subbalteatus.

You should leave that one to spore print longer.

A - Panaeolus papilionaceus?
B - Psathyrella?
C - Conocybe tenera?
D is Panaeolus cyanescens
Not sure about E
F could be Gymnopus

E is weird....

There is a possibility it is sporeless.  Unlikely though.

Psathyrella and Agaricus cross my mind, but I would expect brown spores in that case.  Something Lepiotoid is another ideo, but the pinkish gills are weird.

The substrate (dung) is especially confusing.

It might just be too old to drop any more spores.  If that is the case, then the spores must be a light colour (since the mature spores would have already coloured the gills), ruling out AgaricusPsathyrella can have pink spores, but I don't know of any pink spored species that inhabit dung.

Even if that were the case, the person who discovers it does not get to name it.  You have to publish the species description if you want to name it.
