Would the addition of carbon?
    #11272040 - 10/18/09 05:45 PM (8 years, 1 month ago)

I'm trying to learn what role, if any; carbon plays in the growth of mushrooms. I have not had much success which leads me to believe that there may not be a solid connection.
I would like to know more if anyone has thoughts or knowledge on the subject or even how I might refine my search words or phrases.
Thanks

Activated carbon is one of the things thought
to stimulate primordia formation in Agaricus
cultivation, added to the casing layer.

Also I believe that it may play some part in
the natural lifecycle of Morel mushrooms, known
to fruit prolifically following a forest fire.

That's what I thought as well. My end game point here is that I'm wondering if natural lump charcoal that was pulverized and added to a bulk substrate or casing layer would have any beneficial effect.

There are a variety of scientific papers available online but I don't quite understand them.
