So, it turned out to be a mushroomy weekend anyway. I headed for the woods with my brother in law to see if this season would produce us some nice porcini. Well, we certainly found some very nice ones, but also very few. We ended up picking a grand total of THREE mushrooms. But boy, were they perfect...
It seems that we're having a very nice amanita season this year
The inevitable hypholomas. We only get h. fasciculare here, unfortunately not the edible species.
Nice honey mushroom cluster
A late season pluteus
And some actives for you junkies...BLGs FTW
Back home...all cleaned up
Hope you enjoyed the pixies

Yes, these are the real deal. I have no clue as to their potency though

I don't think so, somehow they don't look right for pholiota.

I haven't yet, would you still eat them as old as these are? In any case, I intend to try some, perhaps even this season.

I think gyms, but maybe not spectabilis, I don't see much of an annulus.
Your camera is awesome, even the parts of the photo that are out of focus look great.

Yes you may very well be right. The annulus was actually more prominent in other clusters that were growing near this one. Still, it might be a different species.

Great work, Koraks!

Yeah, these lenses provide some nicely blurred backgrounds. Mind you, most of it has been shot with the cheapest Canon EF lens out there, the 50mm f/1.8. I think it retails for something like $90 in the US. These were shot with a Canon EOS 20d, which is my 5 year old, almost entirely devalued, but still pretty reliable digital workhorse. However, these could have also been easily shot using a film camera. That means that this level of image quality is available at the cost of maybe $ 150 and a roll of good ol'film. If you don't shoot much, this option actually beats the crap out of any digital compact camera in terms of value for money. Then again, you have to know how to use this stuff.
