'Keep it off the floor' question
    #11270244 - 10/18/09 11:24 AM (8 years, 7 months ago)

So, I know I need to keep my stuff off the floor due to possible contamination hazzard, but what exactly does this apply to? Are spawn bags/jars something that need to be elevated, or just tubs? What about supplies/subs/bulk subs/casing materials?

Anything that contams can get into. Spawn bags (especially self-healing ones) don't need to be kept off the floor except when inoculating, and even then if you really want to do it on the floor and follow safe procedures you should be fine.

90% of contams are in the floor region. I've kept spawn bags on the floor, but it's better to keep them on a coffee table or SOMETHING.  Contams can't get into the jars/bags with the filter patches and what-not, but they can stick to the outside.

Lack of filtration would be my concern.

I have a relitivly small room to work in, 10x10. I have a huge desk in there I use as a work-space (although now that I have some shelving, I don't think I need the 'L' leg). Its tough being short and having to keep everything off the floor. the footprint of storage space is killing me.
