Once the mycelium has fully colonized in the jars do i...
    #11270016 - 10/18/09 08:12 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Mix with a bulk substrate and case at the same time? or do i need to wait until the bulk substrate is fully colonized too? Or do i not even need to case with bulk substrates? Just add light to get fruits?

Also are the colonized mycelium and bulk substrate (i was going to use h poo and straw mix, if there is a better mix i can use let me know) mixed together or shall i put down a layer of moist verm then my colonized mycelium then my bulk substrate then a casing. During spawning my bulk substrate am i still keeping it in the dark?

Peace.

If you're spawning your cakes or grains to a bulk substrate such as manure, there's no need to apply a casing layer.

So mix the mycelium with straw and poo then cover?

Sorry if it seems like a silly question, its my first grow and i don't want to mess it up.

i always put all my spawn in, mix thoroughly with substrate and let colonize in dark... once colonized add light and fae and it's all good...

1. Pasteurize you bulk sub mix.
2. Allow to cool, squeeze out excess moisture.
3. Mix your myc with bulk sub, use a 1:3 ratio of spawn to bulk.
4. Cover trays with tinfoil, poke a few holes, and set aside to colonize for 4-7 days.

Don't forget to put some duct tape around the sides of the container to prevent side pinning.

that's awesome thanks a load. For every one jar spawn it to 3 times the jar volume's worth of bulk?

Peace.

round there somewhere, yeah, for every quart of spawn use 1-4 quarts of substrate.

1:1 is best but up to 1:4 works very well just try not to stretch it out much past that.

more spawn to sub = more inoculation points = faster colonization = more nutes left for fruiting and less chance of contams setting in b4 your flushes are done.:stoned:

You probably have 500ml jars which are a little smaller than quarts
