Watering plants with sparkling water?

A friend told me that watering plants with sparkling water can do wonders. But as I know he isnt much of a botanist, Im kind of sceptical. When we were talking of this, we were refering mostly to my salvia plants. Would the CO2 be good or not? I guess I could experiment since I have 3 separate plants... What are your thoughts?

depends on the plant, carbonated water will lower the PH, If this is what the specific plant likes, it will do great, if its not what it likes, it wont.

As most of the CO2 is absorbed through the leaves of the plant and not the roots, I couldn't imagine it would do much good or bad.

Roots need oxygen not Co2. Bad idea.

He asked about watering, not spraying the leaves, a concentration of Co2 at the root level would not be good.
My answer was meant for the OP.
