grow bag to mono-tub
    #11269410 - 10/18/09 03:51 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

hey..so im gonna knock up just one mad season bag cuz thats all i can afford with a Bplus strain.. since its my first time,i mite just grow in the bag or dunk and roll and place into FC.. But what io really want to do to get more bang for my buck is a mini mini monotub so please tell me if u think this will work.

so im gona make two big holes on two sidees and 4 lil holes on other side of tub. then place my horsepoo/straw mix from rahlp =) then pour broken up spawn and on top then mix with my hands, with holes with polyfil, then cover with  blanket or black trash bag as my rival doc t likes. =P fu...... then expose to fruiting conditions .what ya guys think?

i did i was like DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey i got another question,, im following the ohmatic monotub tek and in that one you just mix spawn with substrate and let colonize then expose to light.  BUT on other mono tub teks i see they add a casing layer once its fully colonized... WHIch is more better to do for a begginer like me.

This is what I know of casing vs noncasing of tubs.  They both produce about the same weight.  Cased tubs produce more smaller shrooms while an uncased produces bigger.  I would suggest non casing just bcuz there are less steps.  Less steps=less contaims IME

If it's your very first time you might want to fruit in the bag to guarantee you get some fruits.

And yes, if you are buying any kind of pre-pasteurized bulk substrate then all you do is crumble your mad season bag and mix it well with the poo and cover to colonize.

One important word of advice with those Mad Season bags.  When you get it it will be compressed and hard like a brick.  slowly and carefully pull apart the bag like a bag of potato chips (without opening it!) and shake the grains around to loosen them up.  This can be the difference between colonization in 2 weeks vs 4 weeks.  I would also shoot your spore solution on top (not inside) of the grains in the bag.  Good luck.
