Too cold cold shock
    #11268915 - 10/18/09 01:46 AM (8 years, 6 days ago)

So I had a tray cased that colonized, and then just sat for the last month while all the cakes around it keep fruiting, after using the search function I saw someone in a similar situation be advised to dunk it in the fridge as it may be dehydrated and the cold shock may stimulate pinning. Dunked over night and went to take it out to find a thin partial layer of ice on the surface of the water. (and we've always had a problem with the fridge not being cold enough. Re cased it and dropped it back in the fc, but wondering if I should abandon it rather then leave a dead casing to grow contams. Any thoughts?

:pm: me if you have questions about lasers

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

cubes are tropical, they dont need the cold shock. i believe that humidity and light spectrum are the pinning triggers. i just make sure i get plenty of fae and a 6500k florescent and get great pinsets.

thanks for the quick replies! good to know about the cold shocking as I have a cake that fruited a few weeks ago, and after re dunking it (left that one on the counter) it's just sat showing no signs of any activity, I was considering re dunking it in the fridge as well, but I'll leave it.
