Does anyone know of a good place to get the proper jars for PF Tek?
Ordering online is not preferrable.

yea, try walmart they usually have em, if not hit up several diff types of grocery stores one will have em.

It's a bit seasonal. I notice they're getting a bit scarcer. Haven't seen half pints around in a few weeks. I wish I grabbed some 4oz. for agar work I'd like to try.

yea i use the 4oz for grain jar liquid cultures. very nice, colonize fast.

Ball does not make the short 1/2 pint jars. Only Kerr does. I know in the midwest Ball has a monopoly on the market and you don't see Kerr anywhere. I have seen Kerr on the west coast.

I just picked up 3 half gallon wide-mouth jars for $2 ea at the hardware stores. They sell the plastic 1 piece lids for a steal too!
Seriously, I see them EVERYWHERE when I'm not looking for them.

I too shopped all around for jars. Went to Shoprite, Acme, Wegmans, Whole Foods, Walmart, Target, and other stores.. Best I found was the ball elite 1/2 pints wide mouth, and those wouldn't have worked for cakes. Ended up ordering 12 wide mouths off amazon. And bought some 1/2 pint regular mouths from shoprite.

I got some from Ace Hardware. They didn't have them in the store. I ordered them online and chose to pick them up in the store so there was no shipping charge.

I live in northern Virginia, just outside DC.
Places I've tried:
Walmart
World Market
Target
Whole Foods
Michaels
Home Depot
Merrifield Garden Center
The only other places around here I can think of are K-mart and Linens 'n Things.
I guess Wegman's as well.

Just buy it online if you can't find it locally. Sounds like common sense to me. Or you could collect sand and make the glass yourself...
