Slow Monotub Colonizing
    #11267628 - 10/17/09 09:37 PM (8 years, 5 months ago)

Hey I have successfully done about 11 monotubs and for some reason this last one I did has been colonizing slow. I birthed it September 23 but this time I used only 2 qt jars of spawn because of a shortage of spawn. From the looks of things its not contaminated its about 50-60% colonized and I was just wondering if there was anything that I could do to speed up the process. The temperatures in my house have been kinda of low like in the 68-70F. I'm really counting on this tub. What can been done to speed up colonization time?

I would imagine that it is indeed your lower temps.

i would agree it is probably temp related. ive also had a couple tubs that seemed to collinize slower than others in the past. i think my problem had more to do with too wet substrate. i was in a hurry and didn't take the time like usual. it took 2 weeks longer. won't do that again.
