can shrooms grow on mycelium not fully colonized??
    #11266418 - 10/17/09 03:55 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

im using 1 pint jars and the mycelium is spreading but im worried that it may not fully colonize ... if it dosent cover the entire jar and only parts of it can it still produce mushrooms?? i heard that if you let the cakes get light they will pin even if they dont fully colonize
i have my jars in a dark place in a box.. good temps

When they seem to have stalled completely, take the cake and cut off any uncolonized sub. Then, you can use the remaining myc and make a casing or spawn it to bulk sub like manure, etc. The latter option is better.

if this is a BRF cake,
pop it open and rinse off uncolonized material..
crumble it in a pan and cover it with moist verm.

stick it in a fruiting chanmber..

if this is grain, shake it up

:pm: me if you have questions about lasers

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

im assuming hes doing pf tek using pint jars.
no need to crumble the cake.
either wait for it to completely colonize or do what moonshine suggested and simply remove the uncolonized portion after you birth the cake.

i would just let it finish colonizing. the worst thing that can happen is invitro pinning and thats no big deal.
