I think society advances when those in it are able to produce their own resources in enough quantity to provide for more than themselves.
This begets industry, which begets currency, specilization of labor, innovation, infrastructure,
These types of civilizations formed in places where agriculture was most viable, for example, the nile region, mesopotamia, italy, india, china, etc.
people spread out across the world forming distinct civilizations in agriculturally viable territories, then, invariably, conquering neigboring territories who were less established to create empires with the original colony as a citidel, a heart, supplying nourishment to the territories, and circulating unique and specialized resources back into the system.
Society operates the same way today as a BIG picure. Big nations still take resources from small, poor nations, and give them some sort of overprices nourishment in return. There isn't alot of bloodshed as the wars have already been fought, uprising and rebellions can still happen, but usually end up becomming examples....

European civilization did take a tumble after the fall of the Roman empire, but I don't think its anything in comparison to the way Africa has been since the dawn of time. Plus, they did rebound and several European powers became the dominating forces on the plant (and that was Europe DIVIDED).
Whats wrong with living in huts? We're so civilized with our tvs and fancy houses but we're fucking up the planet more than more primitive cultures who managed to not negatively effect the Earth for thousands of years...

Wrong. It depends on the society's views. Some are imperialist/conquerors while others would rather remain isolationists. I'm white myself, but I can safely say the white race has been pretty much the biggest asshole so far in history.

Every culture on the planet has set out to conquer their neighbors at one point or another. The Chinese did it, the Japanese did as well, there was the ottoman empire, the Persian empire, the vedic civilizations, the huns, the aztecs, romans and greeks, the vikings. The Egyptians repeatedly conquered nubia and the various semitic civilizations, then the Kushites conquered the Egyptians...and on and on it goes.

i declare racism on op
I tend to give into stereotypes and sometimes wonder if im racist but i highly doubt it because all of my life has been very diverse in terms of having friends of many cultures and races throughout my life.
One kid was from turkey he was a crazy mofo, but cool nonetheless.
This other asian kid i knew in middle school told me about how he'd shove pencils in his peee-hole; i chose not to believe him.
Ive had many close black friends one who just so happened to introduce me into marijuana, and pretty much launched my career as potsmokin pillpoppin and dope slangin menace, and later a pathetic user(im ok now).
But nonetheless he was a great friend, we'd all skip skoo at his house which happened to be one block away from the "little house in paradise" my parents had moved to.
I was the ripe old age of twelve and spent many days drinking alchol and smoking blunt after blunt of schwag(got me absolutely BLITZED back in the day)and pack aftter pack of newports. It was a very fun year.
Eventually he went his seperate way, like most people in my neighborhood have. And though the saga of my neighborhood is actually a very entertaining one, i have not the time nor motive to write it out here.

I didn't say there was one, I suggested that it's a reasonable assumption that deserves further exploration.
- There is a link between race and physiological traits. Bone density, skin elasticity and color, skull shape, genetic disposition for certain diseases...etc
- Many psychological traits are the result of the physiology if the brain.
Why would genetic variation be limited to appearances?
I never once suggested that any race is better than any other, only that there are very apparent differences, and it's ridiculous to ignore them. This whole moratorium on asking questions is pure nonsense. Any time you have bottlenecking of a population there's going to be an evolutionary effect.
Oh, and I consider people who would rather let society do their thinking for them so they don't have to ask uncomfortable questions to be "spineless, brainless, assholes".

If you read the thread, you'd see the study mentioned about the "civilization gene" being largely absent in blacks, and the "sociopathic gene" being very common in Maori.
