Big coir bricks.
    #11264844 - 10/17/09 12:36 PM (8 years, 11 months ago)

Hey all.

Just picked up a 11lb brick of Coir. 10 bucks and some change.

Anyone know

A) the dimensions of a single pound coir brick

or

B) everyday household item whose size could be used as a measurement for apporx. 1 lb?

I don't want to start weighing 50 gram chunks on my digi till I hit a pound...

Thanks!

Go buy a cheap postal scale that goes to 5 pounds. You need one anyway.

There is a store down the street for me called "Sunshine Hydroponics"

I got a 1lb bag of hydrated lime for 2.95 and 11lb brick of coco coir for 10.65 plus tax.

Then I realized I don't need hydrated lime for a coir bulk grow.

Anyone wanna trade a syringe or print for a LB of hydrated lime?? lol.

A brick's worth of coir flaked off of one of the big blocks is pretty bulky. It will fill up a mixing bowl or salad bowl.

I use large bags of coir too.

I measure one "Brick" as 1.5 pounds.

Yea so do I, what doc said about the size estimate is pretty right on.  I did weigh out a brick from a big block just how you are suggesting with a 50g scale it sucked, yet it did come out to roughly a salad bowls worth

Yeah for 11 bucks just go with it. Next time if you can find a Hydroponics store check for the 11lb brick. Glad to know I got at least one good thing going for me...

YES! thats the same brick I bought from my local store.

10.65 plus tax came out to just over 11 bucks.

I wonder what the shipping on that 11lb brick would be though... and you have think about getting bricks of coir shipped to your house...

I know people will say whatever to that but some might prefer a cash-in-store approach to their gathering of materials...
